b. 28/09/1841 County Limerick, Ireland. d. 07/08/1920 Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 03/09/1861 Mason’s Island, Maryland.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Civil War as a Private in Company K, 42nd New York Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery in action on September 3, 1861 at Mason’s Island, Maryland. His citation reads “Assisted a wounded comrade to the river bank and, under heavy fire of the enemy, swam with him across a branch of the Potomac to the Union lines”. His Medal was awarded to him on March 22, 1898.
