Oscar Wadsworth Field MOH

b. 06/10/1873 Jersey City, New Jersey. d. 05/01/1912 Dayton, Ohio.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 11/05/1898 Cienfuegos, Cuba.

Spanish-American War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the War with Spain as a Private on board the “USS Nashville”. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery during the cutting of the cable leading from Cienfuegos, Cuba, on May 11, 1898. His citation reads “Facing the heavy fire of the enemy, Field set an example of extraordinary bravery and coolness throughout this action.” His Medal was awarded to him on July 7, 1899.
