Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the Union Army as a Sergeant in Company D, 6th New York Cavalry. He entered the service at Schodack, Rensselaer County, New York. He was awarded the CMOH for action at Winchester, Virginia on September 19, 1864. Sgt. McEnroe was one of two troopers of the 6th New York Cavalry to receive the Medal of Honor for this action. The other was Farrier George E. Meach.
