Peter P Roth MOH

Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army at Brooklyn, NY and served as a Private in Company A, 6th US Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action at the Washita River, Texas on September 12, 1874. He received his Medal on November 4, 1874. Reported buried in Rottenmünster Cemetery, Rottenmünster, Rottweil, Germany but that cemetery didn’t open until 1923. Roth died in 1907.

 

MOH CITATION:

While carrying dispatches was attacked by 125 hostile Indians, whom he and his comrades fought throughout the day.
