DATE OF MOH ACTION: 15/06/1864 near Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company E, 11th Iowa Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on June 15, 1864 near Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia. His citation reads “With one companion and under a fierce fire of the enemy at close-range, went to the rescue of a wounded comrade who had fallen between the lines and carried him to a place of safety.” He was presented with his Medal on November 27, 1899.
