b. 1844 Ireland. d. 31/12/1920 Biloxi, Mississippi.

DATE OF MOH ACTION: 22/05/1863 Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company I, 31st Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 22, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. His citation reads “Voluntarily crossed the line of heavy fire of Union and Confederate forces, carrying a message to stop the firing of one Union regiment on another.” He did not receive his Medal until August 14, 1893.
