Thomas R Kerr MOH

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Captain with Company C, 14th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry at Moorfield, West Virginia, on August 7, 1864, when he earned his Medal. His citation reads: After being most desperately wounded, he captured the colors of the 8th Virginia Cavalry (C.S.A.). He was awarded his Medal on June 13, 1894. He was one of two recipients of the Medal from the 14th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry. The other being Colonel James M. Schoonmaker.

 

MOH CITATION:

After being most desperately wounded, he captured the colors of the 8th Virginia Cavalry (C.S.A.).
