Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the Union Army and entered the service at Jacksonville, Pennsylvania. He was awarded the CMOH as a Private in Company F, 85th Pennsylvanian Infantry for action on August 16, 1864 at Deep Bottom, Virginia. His citation reads “Capture of battle flag.” He received his Medal on April 6, 1865.
