Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in Company C, 1st New York (Lincoln) Cavalry. At Sailors Creek, Virginia on April 6, 1865, he captured the flag of the 40th Virginia Infantry (C.S.A.). His citation was issued May 3, 1865.
